2024
In February 2024, Captain Fresh acquired CenSea, one of the largest family-owned seafood importers in the U.S., with a strong customer base of over 800 distributors, food service providers, and modern trade retailers.
2025
In February 2025, CenSea acquired Ocean Garden's portfolio of brands, further strengthening our market position, allowing us to service their customer base as well as cross-sell more products from our existing portfolio to this expanded base.
2025
In December 2025, CenSea acquired Ocean Edge Foods, a U.S.-based seafood importer specializing in premium crab and lobster. The acquisition expands CenSea’s crustacean portfolio, adding cold-water species and strengthening its ability to serve retail, foodservice, and distribution customers with a broader multi-species offering.

Registered in 1984 and headquartered in San Diego, California, Ocean Garden is a seafood importer specialising in wild-caught Mexican shrimp from the Sea of Cortez, alongside a diverse range of other seafood products, including farm-raised Ecuadorian shrimp and calamari.
Ocean Garden is recognised for its offerings under the Ocean Garden, Compass, and Ocean Shell brands, amongst others.
Ocean Edge
Founded in 2006 and headquartered in New York, Ocean Edge is a seafood importer specializing in premium crab and lobster sourced from key global origins, including Canada, Honduras, and South Africa.
Ocean Edge is recognised for its expertise in cold-water crustaceans, offering a portfolio that includes snow crab, king crab, lobster tails, and imitation crab products, serving retail, foodservice, and distribution partners across the United States.
